We are excited to have Dave Blackburn owner of Kootenai Angler at the shop on the evening of January 30th to discuss "Trout Fishing Opportunities in Northern Montana". Dave will begin his presentation around 6 pm, but we encourage all to come early to join in fellowship with other anglers. This is sure to be a great evening! The event is free, but we do ask you to R.S.V.P with us so we can plan accordingly. If you would like to join, please feel free to reach us at 706-878-3083.
Unicoi Outfitters is north Georgia's premier guide service and fly fishing outfitter, located on the Chattahoochee River near alpine Helen. Look for fishing reports, gear and book reviews, and general musings here from our staff and guides.

"The calm before the storm". The river finally receded enough for us to get out before more rain came through. With the pre-frontal conditions, the river really showed out!

Nice evening on the lake yesterday. Lanier stripers were deep and not interested in eating...until we left just before dark. Our friends Josh England and Keith Ohrstrom boated several right after we pulled out. Ain't that the way it always goes!

If you're wondering how the fishing will be after this week of rain, our advice is to get on out there. The river right in Helen is running a little high (294 cfs as I type this) so you'll want to be careful wading. But it's clear and in good shape. The headwater streams will be very good. Dukes Creek and Smith Creek DH will be awesome! Here's the link to the USGS webcam in Helen:

Grab it with your mouse and aim it at the river!
